One of the top players in the country, Tyler Warren, has drawn a pro comparison that has opened the eyes of fans across the country.
Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy compares Tyler Warren to Hall Of Famer Dallas Clark.
Senior Bowl Director and one of the most respected people in the college football world, Jim Nagy, took to social media to share his pro comparison for the All-American Tight end Tyler Warren. He compares Warren to the legendary Dallas Clark.
If you’re not comping Tyler Warren to Dallas Clark you’re not doing it right. Or you’re just too young.

This is a bold comparison for the Mackey Award-winning tight end, but it is justified. Warren showed in the Orange Bowl, like he has all season that he is the engine of the Penn State Nittany Lions offense.
The star tight end finished the year with over 100 receptions and over 1,200 yards receiving, which both lead the Big Ten.
His athleticism and overall feel for the game compare to some of the best we’ve seen in a long time, but what separates him from other elite receiving tight ends is his size and blocking ability. Warren was the lead blocker in many of Penn State’s most explosive runs and was also the recipient of many of the Nittany Lions’ most explosive passing plays.
His playmaking ability is something that scouts and evaluators believe will translate to the next level well and will make him a dangerous weapon from Day 1.
On top of the playmaking ability, his ability as a blocker pops off the tape. He has strong grip strength and has the bend to get around defenders and create leverage as a blocker. It is rare to find a weapon like Warren, who can show twitch and burst like a receiver can but can also drive guys off the line of scrimmage and open holes like an offensive lineman.

Warren, like Clark, wasn’t recruited as heavily as most projected first-round picks are. He was a three-star recruit and was brought in originally as a quarterback. He transitioned to tight end and worked his way up into becoming a starter and later a star.
This transition is similar to Clark’s. He was a walk-on with the Iowa Hawkeyes as a linebacker and left the school as a first-round tight end. Both players showed the potential to be NFL-level tight ends and had major success after the transition. Both were hard-nosed and flashed the tools that offensive coaches dream of.
On film you see Warren line up in many different spots. From the slot to even in the backfield, trying to predict where Warren will line up next is a headache. Clark was similar in this way. He was a unique athlete and caused matchup nightmares by lining up in different spots.
Both players dominated at the college level and seemed like clear fits in any NFL-style offense. The attention that both players required by defenses opened up opportunities for other guys and the athleticism and movement skills made it so that you could not leave your defenders on an island.
Clark was known for his precise route running and ability after the catch. Watching Warren, you see similar abilities, and the flashes of excellence and potential pop off the screen. The traits that Clark possessed as a pass-catching tight end and the versatility make Nagy’s comparison for Tyler Warren appropriate.
From a guy like Nagy, who has been around countless college prospects, you should listen when he feels this strongly about a prospect. Whenever you can compare someone to a Hall of Famer, you know you are dealing with a special type of player.
