Former University of Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was arrested and jailed shortly at the Washtenaw County Jail. The Michigan Wolverines fired the head coach on Dec. 10 after it was found that he allegedly engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
Moore, who has been officially charged with home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering, was arraigned on Dec. 12, and the judge set the bail at $25,000.
Amid this development, former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh offered his reaction to Moore’s latest update. Moore worked as an assistant coach (offensive coordinator) under Harbaugh, who led Michigan to a national championship over two years ago.

During the arraignment on Friday, prosecutor Kati Rezmierski claimed that Moore unlawfully entered the residence of a woman with whom he had an intimate relationship without her permission. He allegedly grabbed butter knives and scissors and threatened to inflict self-harm.
Before the officers came to the scene, the former head coach had already left the house, but he was located and taken into custody. The authorities took him to the hospital for evaluation before imprisoning him at the Washtenaw County Jail.
What Charges Are Filed Against Sherrone Moore and Michigan’s Reaction?
Sherrone Moore is charged with a felony home invasion charge as well as misdemeanor charges of stalking and breaking and entering. In his court appearance on Friday, the bail was set at $25,000, with conditions such as GPS monitoring, no contact with the alleged victim, and mandatory mental health treatment before release. His next court appearance has been set for January 22.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Michigan interim president Domenico Grasso said that the program is investigating the allegations while revealing unacceptable behaviour shown by Coach Moore.
“There is absolutely no tolerance for this conduct at the University of Michigan. None,” Grasso wrote. “I have been in close communication with the Board of Regents and we are united in committing to doing what is right.
“This breach of trust by Coach Moore is painful for many in our community, first and foremost, the individuals directly involved in this situation.”
Moore ended his tenure as Michigan head coach with a 16-8 record. He coached one game in 2023 and was the head coach for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. After his firing, Michigan named Biff Poggi interim head coach for the Dec. 31 Citrus Bowl appearance against No. 14 Texas.
