Did Jeremiah Smith Enter the Portal? Ohio State WR Provides Status Update With 3-Word Message

Jeremiah Smith’s name has been in the rumor mill since the transfer portal opened on Friday. A lot of players have entered the portal, some committed to it weeks before the portal opened.

Smith, being one of the most touted wide receivers in the country today, was also rumored to follow. The Ohio State Buckeyes have already had three receivers enter the portal since Friday.

Bryson Rodgers, Mylan Graham, and Quincy Porter have opted for it. If Smith were to leave as well, it would destroy the program’s stability and severely impact whatever they’ve planned for the next season.

With the rumors around his name heating up, Smith decided to put everything to rest by subtly addressing it. The wide receiver took to X and, without specifying what he was talking about, left a three-word message.

“Not going nowhere,” he posted with two laughing emojis and a facepalm emoji.

It doesn’t take much to connect the dots here. Smith must’ve heard all the narratives floating around, and before the Buckeyes fanbase goes into a meltdown, he thought it’d be best to step in to make things clear.

His post, receiving nearly two million views in 13 hours with 4.4k reposts and 38k likes, shows that the fans were waiting with bated breath to hear the news. Smith joined the program in 2024 and quickly became a fan favorite.

He helped lead the team to a national championship in 2024, and the Buckeyes made back-to-back playoff appearances with him as their wide receiver. It’s understandable why the fans were worried over the rumors.

Now, Smith has made it very clear. He is staying with the Buckeyes and plans on returning next season.

Jeremiah Smith on Mylan Graham’s Transfer Portal Decision

There aren’t many programs better than the Ohio State Buckeyes in college football. Still, they’re impacted by the opening of the transfer portal. Players leaving to declare for the NFL Draft, as Carnell Tate did, is still understandable.

It’s the transfer portal decisions that sting the most. The Buckeyes experienced it with three receivers heading toward the portal, and it was Mylan Graham’s decision that hurt Smith the most.

After Graham announced his decision, Smith took to X to share his feelings. “Nooo 5,” he posted with a heartbreak emoji.

A big positive for the Buckeyes program is that the five-star recruit is going to stay.
