Fans Call For Jeremiah Smith To Enter Transfer Portal As Miami Stuns OSU In Citrus Bowl Showdown

Fans are pleading with Ohio State Buckeyes superstar Jeremiah Smith to leave his current program after this season. On Wednesday, Dec. 31, Smith and the rest of coach Ryan Day‘s 2025 Buckeyes are going up against coach Mario Cristobal’s Miami Hurricanes in this year’s college football playoffs quarterfinal at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Unfortunately for Smith and the rest of the Buckeyes faithful, the 2024 national champions are down by a staggering 14 points at halftime as they have yet to score in the game, even with the likes of Smith giving it their all to make the matchup competitive.

Fans online urged Smith to enter the transfer portal and leave the Buckeyes.

“Jeremiah Smith needs to come link up with Cam Coleman in Athens! Get some real QB play,” one fan claimed.

“We have genuinely failed Jeremiah Smith on every level with this offense this year, a generational talent shouldn’t have to go through this BS,” another fan said.

“Jeremiah Smith is about to transfer to USF to get away from Ryan Day,” another user shared.

“Jeremiah Smith is going to be transferring to Miami after this whooping,” a fan posted.

Other X users praised Smith and his ability to be a star wide receiver.

“No matter how bad Julian Sayin looks, no matter how many looks defenses throw at him that he can’t read. You can never really talk about him because he has Jeremiah Smith on his team that can do it all,” one fan explained.

“Jeremiah Smith getting vertical, attacking the outside shoulder of the bailing corner, & just winning with pure speed and strength,” another fan pointed out with a video.

“IDC if he’s a WR, Jeremiah Smith would be the number one pick in last year’s draft, this year’s draft, next year’s draft, a draft 10 years from now. Special talent,” a fan wrote.

Smith is currently in his second season of collegiate football, both of which have been spent with the Buckeyes. He has become what many consider the best wide receiver in the sport, as he already has a national championship to his name, which Ohio State won last year. They did so by defeating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the winner-take-all game by 11 points, 34-23.

The 2025 Ohio State Buckeyes Only Lost One Game All Season Long

Perhaps the reason there is a lot of pressure on coach Ryan Day’s Ohio State Buckeyes to win their 2025 college football playoffs quarterfinal matchup and advance to the national postseason tournament is the fact that they have only lost one game all year.

That loss came in the last regular-season game of the campaign, which was for the Big Ten conference title. The Indiana Hoosiers beat them 13-10.
