Ole Miss and Mississippi State are going head-to-head in week 14 of college football in a popular showdown as they meet again for the 2025 Egg Bowl.
The rivalry between the two programs started 99 years ago after the Rebels beat then called Mississippi A&M, followed by an attempt by the Ole Miss fans to take down the goal posts in Starkville, and the two teams have been playing each other for the egg-shaped trophy.
Ex-Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart’s latest posts expressing his excitement for the game are a testament to how much the rivalry means to the programs involved.
Dart posted a photo of himself in which he was holding the egg-shaped trophy, a picture that was taken last year after Ole Miss beat the Bulldogs in a 24-14 matchup.
The next story consisted of Dart posing with his ex-head coach, Lane Kiffin, as he enjoyed a cigar and bluntly wrote the caption, “F*ck State.”

Ahead of the game, Kiffin also shared a plan executed by the Bulldogs and said:
“Shoot, at 10 o’clock last night—luckily, our great Ken Crane, our equipment manager, hid secret cameras in the locker room so we could watch Mississippi State break into our locker room and start stealing things,” Kiffin told Smith. “We reported to Mississippi State, they said they’d put security, and how about this? At 3 o’clock in the morning they break in again and take Trinidad [Chambliss]’s jersey. So I guess you expect nothing less from these people.”
Lane Kiffin tells me on the field pregame that Miss St. students broke into Ole Miss locker room at 3am and stole Trinidad Chambliss’ jersey.
The great Ken Crain, Ole Miss’ equipment czar, set up Covert surveillance cameras. Because of course he did.

Joel Klatt Questions Lane Kiffin’s Character Amid LSU, Florida Rumors
During his latest conversation with Colin Cowherd, Joel Klatt bluntly expressed his views on Lane Kiffin’s situation as he currently weighs in on his options between Ole Miss and LSU.
Many analysts have expressed their concern with Kiffin’s potential move, as they believe, despite their 10-1 record in 2025 so far, the committee might not think they should be in the playoffs because they are not playing for the head coach they played with all season.
Klatt questioned that if Kiffin decides to leave in the middle of a Playoff run, will he have any credibility at the next place he goes to coach?
“We can sit here and lament the calendar and realize that this is not a great position for Lane to be in. I totally agree with that. But it’s also still up to him. If you say yes to everything, how can you be committed to anything? I don’t think he has to go anywhere to find success.” Klatt said.
Kiffin is currently in his 6th year as the Ole Miss head coach and is anticipated to make a decision on his future after the Egg Bowl game.
