The LSU Tigers impressed four-star WR recruit Jase Mathews during his trip to Baton Rouge, taking to social media to show how impressed he was.

Jase Mathews Has Plenty of Interest, and LSU Might Have Just Taken the Top Spot
With recruiting season well underway in the college football world, one of the most sought-after talents, Mathews, has many teams chasing his talents.
After an official visit to Baton Rouge, Mathews said, per On3, “The people, the stadium, the practice, it was all great.” This has really put the Tigers among the teams at the top of the WRs list, as he is set to be a top-five at the position in the 2026 class.
Jase Mathews spent Saturday in Baton Rouge and LSU did not disappoint the elite playmaker from Mississippi.
“The people, the stadium, the practice – it was all great,” Mathews said.

Mathews has had multiple visits and even received an offer from the Ole Miss Rebels all the way back in July 2023. LSU now joins Ole Miss, the Colorado Buffaloes, the Auburn Tigers, and the Texas A&M Aggies as teams that have secured official visits with the WR, but many of those aren’t set to take place until May and June of this year.
A couple months can be a long time in sports and so the impression Baton Rouge had on Mathews could well be enough to convince the Greene County star to commit to LSU.
The Tigers have a history of developing WRs, and their track record over the last decade may just be the best in college football.
Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham Jr., Justin Jefferson, and Ja’Marr Chase are just a few successes, and even last year, we saw Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas be first-round picks and excel in their NFL rookie seasons. Mathews is talented enough to follow the trend.

The 6″2, 182-pound weapon has a background in track and field, and that is clear to see with his ability to make game-changing plays. He has exceptional hands and route running, which is why so many teams are trying to secure him as part of their program for the 2026 season.
In 2024,, he had 68 receptions for 1,138 yards and 15 touchdowns and 10 kick return opportunities. Expect the 2025 season to be another brilliant one in Mississippi, and plenty of noise will be made around his name throughout the nation as recruiting heats up.
The 2026 WR class is stacked with 5-star Tristen Keys leading the way and looking set to be declaring for Tennessee Volunteers.
After Keys there is an abundance of 4-star talent that have been turning heads around the country but Mathews is right up there behind Keys.

There is a long way to go until National Signing Day and Mathews has a number of official visits lined up in the summer. LSU has impressed him early, which could be a sign to make up his mind before he heads off to other schools.
Whatever happens, 2025 will be a huge year for Mathews, and we will continue to hear his name throughout the college football world.
