Fans on X came out in full force on Saturday, trolling the former Penn State head coach James Franklin after the Nittany Lions put together a competitive first-half display against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Penn State, after the end of the first half, trailed the Buckeyes by just 3 points as they put on an impressive display that could potentially win them a game against a top 10 side.
This prompted a lot of fans to react to the game’s situation as they mercilessly trolled the former Lions head coach, blaming him for Penn State’s poor display earlier in the season:
“If Penn state wins this then James Franklin is the worst college football coach of all time”, stated a fan.
“If this is the day Penn State beats Ohio State Im gon laugh so hard. I hope they win so freakin bad. I wonder what James Franklin is thinking right now”, said a fan.
“Not that they really will, but man, James Franklin would feel pretty bad if they win this with arguably their worst team in a while”, remarked a fan.
“You have to admit, Penn State firing James Franklin and immediately beating Ohio State would be the funniest outcome of the season”, commented a fan.
“what if psu beats osu without James Franklin this season”, commented another fan.
“Headline: “Can James Franklin watch his former team win the big game?”, a hilarious suggestion from another fan.
Part of the reason why Franklin was fired was because of the Nittany Lions’ lack of wins against top flight teams.
The Nittany Lions meanwhile hung around early, trailing just 17-14 at halftime after Nicholas Singleton’s three-yard touchdown run.

Buckeyes Concede First First-Half Touchdown of the Season
This game marked the first time this season that Ohio State’s defense allowed a first-half touchdown.
Toward the end of the first half, CJ Donaldson Jr.’s fumble late in the second quarter was extremely damaging. With just under two minutes remaining in the opening half, Ohio State lost the football, with Penn State had excellent field position subsequently scored a touchdown, which resulted in a difference of only 3 points between the two sides.
However, Penn State let the game slip away as they now trail with a mammoth 38-14 scoreline with a little over 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Penn State need to tighten the screws as they did in the first half in order to script a comeback against the Buckeyes.
