Jalen Milroe Embraces Underdog Narrative, Says He’s ‘Cool with Being Underrated’

Milroe is looking to prove that he is more than just a dual-threat college quarterback.

One of the more intriguing quarterback prospects in this year’s pre-draft process is Alabama signal-caller Jalen Milroe.

The All-SEC performer spoke with the media at the NFL Combine and was asked about the narrative surrounding him.

Milroe Feels Ready to Play NFL Football

While most feel that Milroe is an underrated player, the dual-threat QB is just okay with that, as he told the media on Friday in Indianapolis.

It seems like the Texas native has a chip on his shoulder and is ready to prove the doubters wrong.

Nothing could have prepared him better for the NFL than playing for Nick Saban and, eventually, Kalen DeBoer. He built a solid on-field portfolio in Tuscaloosa while there for four years and is ready for an opportunity at the next level.

    Where Could Milroe Fit?

As a dual-threat QB in the SEC, Milroe rolled out multiple seasons of 2,800+ passing yards and 500+ rushing yards.

The question is whether or not he could successfully be an impact player in a similar capacity at the next level. Could teams like the New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, New York Giants, or Tennessee Titans be interested in drafting him?

Or, could he become a developmental piece for a team that already has a franchise QB? What if a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers decided to sign a veteran QB like Aaron Rodgers and then draft Milroe?

He might not be ready to start in the league at this point in time, but sitting and learning could perhaps do him some good. Sitting and learning did legendary QBs like Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, and Tom Brady fairly well.

The most important thing for Milroe is that if he can work on his passing skills, his ceiling in the NFL could be quite high.
