Shilo Sanders, now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent, made a strong impact at Jackson State from 2021 to 2022 after transferring from South Carolina to play under his father, Deion Sanders.

Shilo Sanders Moves From Jackson State to the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers After 2 Years
In 2021, Shilo totaled 39 tackles, four interceptions, and seven pass deflections, earning second-team All-SWAC honors and helping the Tigers win the SWAC championship with a key interception in the title game.
Although an ACL injury limited him to seven games in 2022, he still added 20 tackles and one interception, contributing to another championship run. His physical play and knack for making big plays helped him stand out and earn a shot in the NFL.
After two standout seasons at Jackson State, Sanders transferred to Colorado in 2023 to continue playing under his father, Deion, alongside his brother, Shedeur, as the family moved to the Pac-12.
Rumors suggested Sanders was hesitant to leave Jackson State, where he had built strong bonds and thrived on the field, reportedly preferring to remain at the HBCU powerhouse.
Despite the speculation, he joined Colorado and adjusted to the bigger stage, finishing the season with 67 tackles, four forced fumbles, and an interception returned for a touchdown, earning honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors.
His strong play helped Colorado draw national attention, even as reported off-field tensions added drama to his final college season before signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent.
