    Scouting Oregon CB Jabbar Muhammad

    Size: 5’9”, 182 pounds
Key Stat: Played 80% of snaps on the outside in the last three seasons. Allowed receptions on 52% of his targets.
    Projected Role: Developmental depth nickel

    Strengths

    • Twitchy athlete with excellent mirror ability can stay in sync with receivers and disrupt their routes.
    • An agile mover who has precise, fluid footwork
    • Versatile defender who has experience playing both outside and in the slot
    • Strong ball skills, demonstrating impressive anticipation, especially when the ball is in the air. He can track passes over his shoulder and make plays without turning his head.

    Areas of Concern

    • Extremely undersized.
    • Lacks long speed, which can be a liability when facing faster receivers on the perimeter.
    • Doesn’t have the density or body strength to consistently make secure tackles, leading to missed tackles and broken plays.
    • Can be sold on routes easily, as he tends to bite when watching the quarterback’s eyes off the line of scrimmage. This often causes him to get locked in and limits his recovery ability

    Jabbar Muhammad NFL Draft Outlook

Muhammad enters the 2025 NFL Draft having started the last three seasons on three different teams. The former Oklahoma State Cowboys and Washington Huskies corner transferred to Oregon in 2024, where he continued to showcase his solid athleticism and ball skills.

Most of Muhammad’s game time has been spent in a perimeter corner, where he has excelled in tracking the ball and mirroring routes.

However, his size poses a significant challenge at the next level. Standing at just 5’9″ and 182 pounds, the Oregon corner also lacks the long speed to keep up with elite receivers, meaning he will struggle to handle larger, more physical athletes on the outside.

His lack of density and body strength also affects his tackling, as he misses too many opportunities to bring down ball carriers securely.

Additionally, Muhammad’s tendency to rely on the quarterback’s eyes raises concerns about his ability to bite at the next level, and he doesn’t have the physical profile to recover.

Bottom Line: Given his frame, Muhammad will likely project as a nickel corner in the NFL.

However, his lack of proactive awareness and inconsistent tackling raises questions about whether he can be trusted in that role, meaning he may struggle to secure a long-term role at the next level.
