Isas Waxter NFL Draft Outlook
Waxter has the ability to play at the next level but he will need to develop and improve. Reports are that he helped himself out with a good showing in the week leading up to the Shrine Bowl.
His stats don’t jump off the page at you but he did well defending passes in 2023 and as a result saw less targets in 2024.
The upside here is his elite size, as one of the longest and biggest corners not just in the class, but potentially in the NFL.
As an FCS player, it’s hard to get a full read on his coverage skills given who he often lined up against. Still, when you watch his film, you see a big physical corner who plays smart and is willing to hit.
The best case scenario for him is to be drafted, have a good summer, and earn his keep early in his career by being a strong special teams presence.
Bottom Line: With the right coaching and given time to develop, Isas Waxter can be a rotational NFL corner. If he leans into his strengths and continues to read well and play with a high I.Q. he should be able to make it out of training camp this summer. We’ll be interested to see what he can do from a testing standpoint ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.
When I watch his film, I see a lot of Brandon Browner in his game. Leaning into his physicality and size, like Browner did, should be a recipe for success.
