WATCH: Wideout Isaiah Horton Grinding in Nashville as Alabama Eyes Explosive 2025 Offense

Wide receiver Isaiah Horton, a transfer from the Miami Hurricanes, was spotted training hard at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tenn., on May 6, 2025. In a video shared on X by Brody Smoot of Touchdown Alabama, the 6’4”, 205-pound sophomore is seen running drills with focus and intensity, a sign that he’s ready to make an impact in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

He joined Alabama on Dec. 21, 2024, after two years with Miami, where he showed flashes of potential but never fully broke out as a star. Now, under head coach Kalen DeBoer, who is entering his second year with the Tide, he will have a fresh opportunity to shine. With Alabama’s offense needing new playmakers to step up, His size, speed, and work ethic could make him a key piece in a revamped passing attack.

Isaiah Horton Grinding Early for Breakout Alabama Season

The video showed him weaving through cones on a football field, focusing on agility and footwork. Lipscomb Academy is a private school in Nashville known for its strong athletic programs and commitment to developing well-rounded individuals, providing the perfect backdrop for Horton’s grind.

Coming from Miami (FL), Horton has the physical tools to succeed at the SEC level. During his time with the Hurricanes, he recorded 13 receptions for 168 yards and a touchdown in 2023, numbers that hint at his potential but also show he has room to grow.

At a listed height of 6’4”, he’s a big target with the frame to win contested catches, and his training in Nashville suggests he’s working on the quickness needed to create separation against elite defenders. Alabama’s coaching staff, led by DeBoer and wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard, will likely look to harness those traits to make Horton a go-to option in the passing game.

What Horton Brings to the Crimson Tide

At Miami, he showed he can line up both outside and in the slot, giving Alabama flexibility in how they use him. His 2023 stats with the Hurricanes may not jump off the page, but they came in a crowded receiver room where he often competed for targets with players like Xavier Restrepo, who led Miami with 85 catches that same year.

One area where he could make an immediate impact is in jump-ball situations. His frame gives him an edge over most cornerbacks, and if he can refine his route-running, he might become a favorite target on third downs and in the end zone.

Alabama’s offense struggled with red-zone efficiency in 2024, converting just 58% of their trips into touchdowns, a dip from their usual standards under Nick Saban. His ability to go up and get the ball could help fix that issue, especially if he builds chemistry with whoever wins the starting quarterback job.
