Tyreak Sapp And Warren Sapp: Are They Related?
Social media is filled with rumors linking Tyreak Sapp to Warren Sapp, with some posts falsely claiming Tyreak is his nephew. However, Tyreak has debunked all these claims. His X bio explicitly states, “Tyreak Sapp STA c/o 2021 DE/LB not related to Warren (Sapp).”

The clarification makes it clear that Tyreak is neither Warren’s son nor nephew. Warren Sapp, inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013, has six children, but only his son, Warren Carlos Sapp II, has pursued football, playing at the high school level. No family ties bind the Gators’ star to the Hurricanes’ legend.
Tyreak Sapp’s Rise with the Gators
While Tyreak may not share Warren’s bloodline, he’s building his own legacy in Gainesville. A product of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, a Florida powerhouse, Tyreak redshirted in 2021 before making waves in 2022. Appearing in all 13 games, he recorded 20 tackles (eight solo), half for loss, and debuted with three assisted tackles in a win over No. 7 Utah.
In 2023, he started 11 games, tallying 24 tackles (12 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and two sacks, including a standout three-tackle performance in his first career start against Utah.
The 2024 season secured Tyreak’s status as a defensive star. Starting nine games, he led the Gators with 13 tackles for loss (48 yards), seven sacks, and two forced fumbles. His explosive first step and versatility that won matchups both inside and outside drew comparisons to some of the best rushers in the sport’s history.
