A 31-17 loss to now No. 14-ranked Florida State knocked them down to the No. 21-ranked team in the nation. To make matters worse, Williams suffered a concussion against the Seminoles and is proceeding through concussion protocol. He is not expected to play on Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe. This news was reported by insider Pete Thamel on X on Saturday morning.

Ryan Williams Injury Update
Ryan Williams played against Florida State, but in the fourth quarter went to the locker room. It was later revealed that he suffered a concussion. While he returned to practice during the week, he is now listed as questionable for Saturday’s matchup. However, multiple insiders are reporting that he will not play.
Is Ryan Williams playing today?
While Williams was able to return to practice this week, he will not be a participant in Saturday’s game against the Warhawks. While this is a big loss for the team, the Crimson Tide should still be able to come out of the week with a win. While the Warhawks are coming off a Week 1 win, it was against St Francis PA. The Crimson Tide should still be in position to bounce back from their Week 1 loss to Florida State, even without their star wide receiver.

Ryan Williams did not have a season debut that was up to the standard he set in his freshman season. He made five receptions for 30 yards. While he left the game, limiting his availability, it was in the fourth quarter, so he still played most of the game.

Ryan Williams is listed as questionable on the injury report, so there is a small chance he could return this week. However, it is more likely that, based on insider reports, he misses this week’s game and returns in Week 3.
