Malaki Starks, a Jefferson, Ga., native, first drew attention at Jefferson High School, where he won the GHSA Class 4A state championship and earned Georgia All-State Second Team Defense honors in 2020. As a five-star prospect, he shone in the 2022 Under Armour All-American Game before joining the Georgia Bulldogs. In his freshman year, Starks helped secure a College Football Playoff National Championship.
By 2024, he had earned First-Team All-SEC honors twice, Consensus All-American status, and First-Team All-American recognition. Leading the Bulldogs with 39 tackles, an interception, and three tackles for loss, Starks was named a semifinalist for the 2024 Thorpe Award.
Who Is Savanna Jackson?
Savanna Jackson, Starks’ fiancée, is also an athlete. She is a former soccer player for the Jefferson Dragons. As noted on her Instagram (@savannajacksonn), she competed in the 2020 Southeast All-American Soccer event.
Jackson, also from Jefferson, met Starks in fourth grade, forming a friendship that eventually blossomed into romance. After four years together, their bond culminated in an engagement during Georgia’s off weekend in Chattanooga, a city they’ve frequented during Starks’ college career.
Starks orchestrated his proposal on Oct. 25, 2024, just days after Jackson’s birthday. Surrounded by rose petals and lit candles, he proposed in Chattanooga. “I knew I wanted to spend my life with her,” Starks said. “She’s very special to me, and she’s very important to what I do, along with my family and her family.”
