Is Justice Haynes Playing Today? All We Know About Michigan RB’s Status Ahead Of Michigan State Matchup

The Michigan Wolverines will be heading to East Lansing to visit their eternal state rivals, the Michigan State Trojans. One Wolverines player that fans are asking is running back Justice Haynes, who got injured during that loss to USC. Will he be able to play against the Trojans?

Haynes has been big for the Wolverines this season and he is one of the reasons why the team is still considered one of the best in College Football even if the team has been facing suspensions and scandals. Last week, head coach Sherrone Moore stated that it was a gametime decision if they would play Haynes against Washington, ultimately opting to sit him out and rest.

Wolverines insider Ryan Zuke revealed his current situation, and it is pretty much like what happened last week, though Haynes appears to have a better chance of playing this week against Michigan State than he did last week against Washington.

“Despite being a full participant in warmups against Washington, Haynes was held out. Head coach Sherrone Moore said he was ‘close’ to playing in the game after practicing Thursday and Friday last week, but the coaches took a cautious approach. However, with another week to heal up, Haynes appears to have a better chance of playing against MSU,” he said.

Zuke added that even if he does play, Moore might play it safe and give Haynes some limited minutes, especially with the Wolverines being highly favored in this matchup and many predicting that this will be a pretty one-sided ball game.

Michigan would want him back as soon as possible, as he has had a stellar season so far with 705 rushing yards on 95 carries, with eight touchdowns.

What Happened To Justice Haynes and Is He Hurt?

During that loss to USC, Haynes suffered an abdominal injury, which means that yes, he is indeed hurt. Despite this, the team was optimistic about his recovery, with the injury being deemed a minor one, He practiced fully for several days with the team as well, though Moore held him back against Washington to make sure he would not get hurt any further.

Moore stated that the running back was “close” to playing against Washington but had decided not to play him. Instead, true freshman Jasper Parker was the one who played, as the Wolverines crushed Washington 24-7.
