Iowa State Fans Turn On Refs As Controversial Call Leads To Iowa Score In Cy-Hawk Showdown: “Just A Complete Sh*tshow”

The in-state rivalry between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones continues as the two teams met at the football field on Saturday. During the second quarter, there was a controversial call that led to an Iowa field goal from Drew Stevens.

However, fans were not happy, even though their team was leading 6-3 at the time of writing, with the Cyclones leading 6-0 since the first quarter before Stevens’ kick got the Hawkeyes closer. They immediately pounced on the referees for a perceived bad call that led to the Iowa field goal.

“Just a complete sh*tshow,” commented one person.

“If the rightfully thrown flag had stood none of this would be an issue,” another redditor noted.

“Ball clearly hits the Iowa State player first, call will stand. And the Hawkeyes player was absolutely blocked into the returner, anyone who says otherwise has never played STs.” another person added.

“How the hell do you pick that flag up,” said another person.

“This huge long review break for one single play before another 4 minute break lol,” noted the person regarding the play.

“Db not trying harder to get to endzone probably cost ISU 4 pts,” said one redditor.

Iowa’s offense has not been able to get going all game, as the Cyclones’ defense continues to hold strong against their bitter rivals. They were forced into a field goal and it connected, but Iowa State bounced back with a massive touchdown to make it 13-3 as the game headed into halftime.
