SEC Podcast hosts Mike and Cousin Shane recently chatted about what this Longhorns team is capable of this year.

Here is what Cousin Shane had to say about the team’s College Football Playoff chances:

“I think more likely is texas missing the College Football Playoffs than winning a national championship…I’m throwing flag. I’m flipping. Give me win a national championship.”

If the Longhorns are going to do anything this year, they are going to need to find players who can step up. It is going to have to start with quarterback Arch Manning, who is stepping in for Quinn Ewers after Ewers joined the NFL last month.

Manning needs to deliver and show off his skills in a big way if this team wants to accomplish its goals of winning a national title. Next up, 1,000-yard running back Quintrevion Wisner will be back again and is going to need to replicate his success from a year ago.

The likes of Ryan Wingo, Parker Livingstone, and DeAndre Moore Jr. are going to need to replace what Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond did at the wide receiver position last season. On defense, the Longhorns are simply going to have to replace the stars that left for the next level, such as defensive end Barryn Sorrell and safety Andrew Mukuba.

If these players can come in and do what they are called upon to do, the Longhorns will have a chance to win the SEC and make a run at a national title.
