Michigan is in crisis mode as the fallout from the Sherrone Moore affair scandal continues, and it could soon also claim the job of the man who fired Moore, Michigan AD Warde Manuel. There had been numerous scandals under Manuel’s watch, including the John Harbaugh recruitment scandal and the sign-stealing scandal, which all occurred during his tenure as athletic director. Many believe that he might be the next to go.
During their “The Audible” podcast, Bruce Feldman, Stewart Mandel and Ralph Russo discussed the ongoing chaos at the University of Michigan and believe Manuel could be next.
“I think there’s just a lot of layers to this where what we’re getting, getting into our reporting is at the athletic, is going to be this. It wasn’t the old question of like what did the people at Michigan ,what Warde Manuel, the AD, what did he know and when he knew it. It’s starting to feel more like why didn’t he know more about this? like there was there’s a definitely a lot of disturbing things we are hearing at the athletic from the people we’re talking to that are now connected to this investigation.” (4:11)
As CSN previously reported, there are reports that the relationship between Sherrone Moore and his alleged mistress, Michigan staffer Paige Shiver, was known by many at the school. The school has reportedly been investigating the matter before Shiver reported Moore for stalking her.
With this most recent scandal, Manuel is now under much stronger scrutiny, especially with the school reportedly already informed that they knew of Moore’s mental health problems before firing him, and their inaction to prevent such incidents.
Shiver reportedly ended things with Moore, and he started stalking and harassing her. This led to her reporting him to the school, which soon led to his firing, with the school already investigating their relationship. After he was fired, he appeared at her house, threatening to harm himself, leading to his arrest and detention.
