As the 2025 NFL Draft draws closer, draft talk is heating up more than ever. Now, an NFL insider has named the New Orleans Saints as Shedeur Sanders lone Round 1 spot. This is an interesting take since the Saint’s head coach, Kellen Moore, has notably skipped Colorado’s Pro Day.
This was certainly an interesting choice on Moore’s part. The New Orleans football team is clearly in the business of drafting a quarterback in this draft. Moore has made time to see Jaxson Dart, Will Howard, and Quinn Ewers but didn’t do the same for Sanders. However, according to this NFL insider, the Saints are still the spot for Sanders in Round 1.

A strong argument can be made that Moore didn’t expect Sanders to fall to the ninth overall pick. However, Moore still made time to see Cam Ward, who will be drafted before Sanders’ spot. Also, there have been whispers regarding whether or not Sanders could potentially slide down in the draft.
NFL Insider Adam Schefter recently spoke on a podcast about the Saints potentially drafting Sanders. “Right now, a couple of weeks out, I don’t think Sanders is going number two,” Schefter says. “Again, the signs point to him not going number three either. So, if he’s not going two, and he’s not going three, it certainly feels like that’s the case today. Where is Sanders going in the Top 10?”
“The only landing spot in the Top 10 that you can see right now is the New Orleans Saints at number nine,” Schefter continues. “Deion Sanders, on Friday after the Colorado NFL showcase, pointed to the Buffs colors and said, ‘I don’t mind those colors in the NFL.’ Black and Gold, now that would be the Saints.”
“Now that doesn’t mean that the Saints are taking Sanders,” Schefter notes. “I think there are three options on Sanders, and then I’m going to give you the wildcard crazy one. 9, New Orleans. 21, Pittsburgh. Those are the two scenarios on my mind that are most plausible right now.”
Schefter is not the only one thinking Sanders could slide into the NFL Draft. The FanDuel Sportsbook expects a slide and wasn’t swayed at all by Moore’s absence in Boulder. They still give the Saints the best odds to land Sanders over the Cleveland Browns, who own the second overall pick.
That’s what’s so interesting about the projection of Sanders being picked in the first round. New Orleans is the last team needing a quarterback in the top 10. So that means every other squad would have to pass on Sanders, including teams like the Browns, New York Giants, and even the New York Jets. For one reason or another, the Saints have better odds of landing Sanders than all of those teams.

Outside the Top 10, FanDuel lists the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams as having worse odds than the Saints. The Steelers have better odds than the Browns and Jets, and that tells you everything you need to know about how they view the Sanders draft stock. Simply put, he’s sliding.
