Insider Warns Miami’s Title Bid Could Collapse Despite Carson Beck-Led Loaded Roster

The Miami Hurricanes kick off the 2025 season with true championship hopes. The introduction of Carson Beck from Georgia has given Miami fans a jolt of energy and excitement that has fully raised previously established expectations.

Josh Pate, the host of the Josh Pate’s College Football Show, provided a blistering take on the scheduling of Miami’s 2025 schedule. His analysis showcases a scheduling trainwreck that goes beyond conference bounds.

“It is a crime what the schedule makers did to them with their by-weeks,” Pate declared during his show. (4:01)

Josh Pate indicated that Miami’s out-of-conference schedule is daunting, as they host Notre Dame and Florida, two teams many are projecting as top-10 teams this season.

“They do both come to Coral Gables or wherever they (Miami Gardens), wherever they play,” he noted, highlighting the home-field advantage Miami holds. (3:53)

Pate still questioned the allocation of bye weeks during the season.

“Miami is one of just three teams in the ACC to have both of their bye weeks compressed within a 15-day span. “If you’re looking on the screen, see Florida State there on October 4th,” he explained. (4:15)

The Hurricanes have an extremely impressive non-conference schedule that features Notre Dame and Florida, both of which have top-10 talent and will provide great challenges for Miami. Although Miami will have home field for these key matchups, this is not the glaring issue.

Carson Beck Faces Grueling Gauntlet Despite Championship Expectations

The final stretch of the schedule presents a particularly brutal slate. The last two regular season games for Carson Beck’s Miami are back-to-back road games in cold weather locations in late November. Home games are already more favorable for home teams, and the late November cold weather conditions will deal Miami additional physical and mental pressure.

College football experts have put Beck on the Maxwell Award preseason watch list. His presence has created ample noise around Miami’s potential success in winning a championship. The Hurricanes possess a 46.3% chance of making the playoffs, according to ESPN, one of the top odds in the nation.

Still, Pate’s concerns about how good their schedule will be, brings up questions of sustainability. Even the deepest roster will be tested by seven straight games with no bye week. Injuries and fatigue build through this time and could greatly affect how a player and staff prepare for game 14, trends that continue to be evident when the “win or go home” portions of the schedule unfold.

And the nightmare scenario does not conclude with the regular season. Millions of graduation hats will fly in the air if they overcome the appointed brutal finish, but then eight consecutive games await in the ACC Championship game in Charlotte.
