The Florida Gators are looking for a new coach, and they may have set their eyes on Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, who is currently guiding the Rebels to being one of the best teams in college football. Kiffin has turned down offers to transfer out of Oxford, Mississippi before, so this begs the question: what makes Florida’s offer to him so special?
Currently, Kiffin, one of the highest-paid coaches in college football, earns $9 million per year with $2.6 million in bonuses. His buyout for this season is estimated at $36.6 million, with Kiffin getting an automatic one-year extension if the Rebels reach at least seven wins.
According to Gator Bait’s Buddy Martin, Florida’s reported offer for Lane Kiffin is massive, as it would last for six years and would be worth around $13.5 million, so it may be a lot bigger than what he is earning over at Ole Miss right now.
“The deal they put on the table… 6 years 13.5 million for Lane.”

Kiffin is currently the tenth highest-paid coach in college football, and if he agrees to go to Florida, he may become the second-highest. With that reported offer, Martin reported that Ole Miss is currently “really pissed off at the Gators” as they may take the man who turned things around for the team away from them at Oxford.

Lane Kiffin Breaks Silence on Florida Rumors
With Florida knocking, Lane Kiffin himself has kept silent on the rumors that the school has offered him a job. However, he did speak to SEC Nation ahead of the Oct. 25 showdown against the Oklahoma Sooners, saying that this is what happens when the team is successful.
“That’s a product of having a program with a lot of players and coaches doing a really good job,” said Kiffin. “I wouldn’t even mention it because they’ve been through it every year for probably four years in a row, but we have so many players, I just told them, ‘hey, guys, this is what happens around here because we win games and people like the style that we play in.'”

Kiffin has turned Ole Miss around since he got to Oxford, with him currently having a 50-19 record overall in his time there. For now, the coach says that he wants to get the Rebels their first-ever College Football Playoff berth in 2025.
