Amid various vacant head coaching positions including Penn State, LSU, UCLA, Arkansas, Auburn, and more, there are many names that are topping the list to replace the fired coaches.
While Lane Kiffin is the most popular one for the top jobs in the list especially LSU, Florida, Penn State and Auburn, analysts Matt Barrie and Paul Finebaum advice another name that might be fitting to replace Hugh Freeze.
During their conversation on ‘The Matt Barrie Show,’ the analysts tossed the name of the Tulane head coach, Jon Sumrall, who is currently earning $3,000,000 a year with the program.
“I think Sumrall is a home run at Auburn, is from Alabama. He grew up in the state. Um he’s going to have to bring an offense with him,” he said (2:00).
“Defensive minded head coach, a former linebacker at Kentucky. So that’s just his side of the ball. So they’re going to have to do something to keep the fans engaged in an offense that you need that somehow scored 38 points last night against Vanderbilt and couldn’t score more than three against Kentucky. That’s for another show,” he added.
“But you know who’s going to be interestingly left out and almost what the hell are we going to do? And they were the first to do it. Penn State. When you look at the these jobs and these names and then you start looking around, you’re like, “Guys, Penn State’s right there. That is a really good job in a league that is easier to get through than the SEC,” he continued.

Joel Klatt Offers Insight on Auburn HC Job Amid Hugh Freeze’s Replacement Search
Auburn is one of the more lucrative jobs in the current era of college football as they look for Hugh Freeze’s replacement.
Talking about how the Tigers are one of the places that pulls the trigger on their head coaches, Joel Klatt shared his honest thoughts on the situation and said that he doesn’t believe it’s a great job.
“If you look at it and you stack it up against the others — now we’ve got these [nine] jobs open: LSU, Penn State, Florida, Arkansas, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech and Stanford. It’s not better than those top three, LSU, Penn State and Florida, in that order,” Klatt said.
Listing the nine head coaching jobs that are open currently, Klatt stated that the Auburn job is not better than LSU, Penn State and Florida, which are the top 3 according to him.
While not placing it in the top 3, Klatt admitted that it’s a better job than programs like Arkansas, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech and Stanford, and called it the 4th or 5th best job open right now.
