Top 3 Indiana Players Who Entered Transfer Portal Ahead of Peach Bowl Showdown Ft.

With the Peach Bowl coming up, Indiana is coming in as the -3.5 favorites against conference rival Oregon. The team is also undefeated and has swatted aside one strong team after another, most notably Alabama in the Rose Bowl in a one-sided beating, 38-5. Despite this, five players are reportedly leaving the Hoosiers, entering the transfer portal, as their current team is aiming for a national title and is likely to win.

Most of these players were promising four or three-star recruits but have not been used as much since coming to Indiana. Their leaving may open doors for them personally and get playing time, with a majority of them announcing their transfer portal entry as soon as it opened on Jan. 2. So, which among them would Indiana miss the most?

Top 3 Indiana Players Exiting Via Transfer Portal

    CB Amariyun Knighten

Originally from Northern Illinois, where he enjoyed much success, Knighten was a four-star transfer who did not see much playing time at Indiana, only playing two games and recording one tackle before suffering a season-ending injury. He only has one year of eligibility remaining and entered the transfer portal as soon as it opened.

    DE Andrew Depaepe

This sophomore defensive end was one of the most promising transferees in Indiana, coming into the school from Michigan State as a four-star transfer, and he was also originally a four-star recruit.

He came to Indiana as a walk-on in 2024 but never truly shone, playing in only four games where he had two tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss, which means he was not given many opportunities there, so despite the team’s success, he is now looking to play elsewhere. He only has two years of eligibility remaining.

    WR Makai Jackson

Another former transferee, he was originally from Appalachian State and was ranked a three-star transfer. However, he only played in four games and had 15 receiving yards for three receptions, as well as one punt return for 11 yards.

He was trying to preserve his redshirt year, so he left Indiana midseason, on Sept. 29, and entered the transfer portal. So far, he has not found a new team yet, though he does have only one year of eligibility remaining.
