Fans Push Back After Shedeur Sanders Denies Being a “Trust Fund Baby”

While Shedeur Sanders is clearly talented, as he proved in Boulder, the pre-draft process proved that he still has some growing up to do.

But fans seemingly don’t love Sanders because of his past behavior. He has seemingly acted entitled, even in interviews with potential suitors.

However, Sanders pushed back against the entitlement narrative in 2024, saying (via Fox), “I don’t have a trust fund… Dad ain’t set me up good like that.”

However, some football fans are calling him a liar on social media. “He may not have a trust fund, [sic] he sure does feel entitled,” one commenter said.

Even if Sanders was not set up to make millions through his family’s fortune, he made millions playing football in college. That, combined with his antics of wearing a gold watch after his team won dramatic games and refusing to shake hands with opposing players, likely scared teams away from wanting to draft him.

Sanders’s attitude and lack of humility is reportedly what separated him from other signal-callers in this draft.

What Will Shedeur Sanders’ Rookie Season Look Like with the Cleveland Browns?

After being taken in the fifth round by the Browns last week, Sanders is headed to a very interesting quarterback situation in Cleveland.

The Browns signed veteran Joe Flacco and traded for Kenny Pickett this offseason. They then decided to draft Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel before they took Sanders in this draft.

Also, former Pro Bowl quarterback Deshaun Watson is still under contract with the team. All of this means that Sanders will likely be a backup quarterback for the foreseeable future.

He will have to develop into a better teammate and an NFL-ready quarterback over the next couple of seasons to have a long-term future in the league.
