Cam Ward Headlines the Latest Heisman Trophy Odds Favorites for 2024

With some teams already a quarter of the way through the 2024 college campaign, who are the Heisman Trophy odds favorites ahead of Week 4?

Common opinion tells us that the Heisman Trophy, the award for the most outstanding player in college football, is won and lost late in the season. Yet, 25% of the way through the 2024 campaign, several playmakers have already put together enough headline-making highlights to fill out the Heisman reel that is presented at the lavish annual award ceremony in New York.

The latest Heisman Trophy odds showcase the frontrunners to be at the ceremony in December, with the events of Week 3 driving what you should be watching out for in Week 4.

Cam Ward Heisman Odds To Win, 2024

One week ago, we urged that time is running out to bet on Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward joining an elite list of players from that program to be recognized among the best in the sport’s history. Well, that time came and went quicker than one of the laser-guided passes flung from Ward’s left arm. The Miami QB is now the favorite, per the latest Heisman Trophy odds.

After annihilating Ball State to the tune of five touchdowns, Ward now leads the ACC in passing yards, yards per attempt, and adjusted yards per attempt while leading the entire nation with 11 touchdown passes. He has the opportunity to put up more gaudy numbers when the Hurricanes face the in-state rival South Florida Bulls on the road in college football Week 4.

Jaxson Dart Heisman Odds To Win, 2024

Not many players in the country have had a more explosive start to the 2024 college football season than Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart. Through three games, no other signal-caller has more passing yards than Dart (1,172), while he ranks second for completion percentage (83%) and yards per attempt (13.3). He also has just one interception to eight touchdowns.

One knock on Dart’s early legitimacy was the strength of opponent faced through two weeks after beating up on FCS Furman and a poor Middle Tennessee side. In his first outing against a Power Four program, the Ole Miss QB threw for 377 yards and two touchdowns while guiding the Rebels to a comfortable win. His Heisman Trophy odds dropped accordingly.

Jalen Milroe Heisman Odds To Win, 2024

The most significant riser from college football Week 3, Jalen Milroe saw his Heisman Trophy odds cut from +1200 to +700 after putting the Wisconsin Badgers to the sword in Madison. While the Alabama quarterback hasn’t put up the passing yard numbers of some of the other contenders here, his performance against a strong Wisconsin defense helps bolster his case.

In a conference with some notable Heisman Trophy candidates, Milroe leads all quarterbacks with 16.9 yards per completion after Week 3. The exciting dual threat is on a bye this coming week, but when the Crimson Tide returns to action, he’ll face a stiffer test than most will take on all season when he does battle with the vaunted Georgia Bulldogs defense.

Nico Iamaleava Heisman Odds To Win, 2024

Only two redshirt-freshman have ever won the Heisman Trophy — Jamies Winston and Johnny Manziel — but try telling Nico Iamaleava that history is against him. The legend of the Tennessee Volunteers quarterback is growing weekly, and the program has as good a chance as it’s had under Josh Heupel to reach the College Football Playoff behind the young playmaker.

Tennessee has yet to score less than 50 points in a game so far this season, and that is a result of some eye-popping plays from their redshirt freshman quarterback. He played sparingly in the win over Kent State, but expect him to come out all guns blazing when the Volunteers travel to Norman in Week 4. Iamaleava’s Heisman Trophy odds of +850 are the lowest they’ve been so far.

Dillon Gabriel Heisman Odds To Win, 2024

The fickle nature of Heisman Trophy odds is best demonstrated by watching the rise and fall of the money placed on Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel. Once considered the favorite to land the most coveted individual prize in college football, the former UCF and Oklahoma transfer slipped to +1100 by DraftKings Sportsbook one week ago.

Now, he’s back on the rise. Gabriel was instrumental in his team winning the Oregon-Oregon State rivalry in dominant fashion. He’s still yet to throw an interception, leads the nation in completion percentage (84.0%), and heads the Big Ten with 914 passing yards and 304.7 passing yards per game.

Forget the stats, however, and watch him go to work against UCLA in Week 4. With his exceptional accuracy and threat to make plays outside of the pocket, Gabriel always should be considered a frontrunner to take home the Heisman Trophy.
