Arch Manning is set to take over the starting quarterback position with the Texas Longhorns next season.
After spending two seasons behind Quinn Ewers on the depth chart, Ewers has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. As a result, no one is standing in Manning’s path to the starting job at Texas, and many sportsbooks even have him as one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy next season.
Josh Pate Speaks About Whether Arch Manning Is the Clear Breakout QB for Next Season
Arch Manning is predicted by most to transition seamlessly into Texas’ starting position. However, he has never started full-time at the college level, so there are some doubts.
On Friday, Josh Pate released an episode of ‘Josh Pate’s Football Show.’ In the episode, he read a tweet that asked him if Arch Manning is the clear breakout candidate among QBs next season. It read:
“Is Arch Manning the clear breakout QB for this year? Or if it’s not him, whomst is it?”
Pate responded by saying that he thinks Arch Manning will have one of the biggest breakouts in college football next season.
“Arch Manning, of course, qualifies,” Pate said. “I saw the Heisman odds. It’s insane how high he is, but yes, he’ll be his own conversation this year. The nuance is in his supporting cast.
“I believe in Arch Manning. I also believe he lost his top three wide receivers, multiple offensive linemen, and a tight end. It’s Texas, though, so you hope they can backfill effectively.”
Manning has gotten a lot of media attention for a player who has not started a full season in college. That is abnormal, even for someone who was a top recruit in his class. While Manning is certainly a great prospect, his attention largely comes because of his last name, as he has two uncles in Peyton and Eli Manning who had legendary careers in the NFL.
There are many people who expect Arch Manning to take up the mantle for the family and have the same success as his uncles. Manning does not need to live up to the tremendous success of his uncles to have a successful college career.
