Saban retired in 2024 with a 292-71-1 record across 28 seasons at Toledo, Michigan State, LSU, and Alabama. He also won seven national championships, six of which were won with Alabama and one with LSU.

Saban was informed of his selection for College Football Hall of Fame last week on “College GameDay” prior to the Cotton Bowl matchup between Ohio State and the Texas Longhorns. Saban’s legacy is marked by his incredible ability to build and sustain winning programs.

One of Saban’s biggest rivals in the SEC was Urban Meyer. Meyer had a legendary coaching run with a record of 187-32, along with three national championships across 17 seasons. Meyer coached at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State. His time at Utah was spectacular, and he left with a 22-2 record after which he moved to Florida and won two national titles.

Meyer would later take over at Ohio State where he would win his third national championship. During Meyer’s run as head coach for the Buckeyes, they were one of the most dominant teams in college football. They put up a best-ever 7-0 record against Michigan and a 54-4 record in Big Ten games, which includes 30 straight conference victories.

Before taking the NFL by storm, Vick played college football for Virginia Tech, leading the team to their first and only national championship in 1999. Vick finished third in the Heisman voting that season before moving on to the NFL. Last month, Vick took on the role of head coach at Norfolk State.

The 2025 College Football Hall of Fame Class will be inducted during the 67th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 9, 2025.
