Jordan Chiles is one of the biggest names in the world of gymnastics. After bagging multiple medals in different tournaments, Chiles hit big at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning the gold medal for America.
One of the biggest moments in Chiles’ career came in 2017 at the P&G Championships. She pulled off a move that is now named after her, ‘Wolf Kino.’ She accidentally performed a triple wolf turn after a standard wolf turn.
The move involves a standard wolf turn followed by an unexpected triple spin while in an upright position. It is also known as the ‘Chiles.’ Eight years have gone by since then, but fans still remember how effortless Chiles made it look.
During a recent conversation with SI Swimsuit, Chiles explained how one can execute the same skill. In the video, she can be seen drawing up the move on a whiteboard while also bragging about what she was able to do.
“I so happened to do it on accident though, but I did train it after I competed it and it was pretty cool,” Chiles said. “I ended up facing this way at the very end and everybody around me was like, ‘Ohhh!’ because they didn’t know what was happening. Now everybody calls it the Chiles.”

Chiles said the trick to executing it perfectly is keeping a tight core and spot turning. While most people can only be in awe of ‘the Chiles,’ it can be an inspiration for budding gymnasts who want to make a name for themselves on a global stage.
Jordan Chiles Talks About How Challenging Gymnastics Is
Over the years, several gymnasts have talked about the misconceptions surrounding the sport. During events, athletes make it all look so effortless that people tend to think it’s not difficult what they do.
The reality, however, is polar opposite. Gymnastics is one of the toughest things to master. The beautiful execution of power, skill, and grace is something that is only attained by those who dedicate their lives to it.
While speaking with SI in between her photoshoot, Chiles shed light on the subject.
“It’s definitely something that is hard on your body,” Chiles said. “As gymnasts, we have more of an impostor syndrome than a lot of people just in the real world. Being [on] the pro side, the athlete side, a businesswoman…it’s a lot.”
