Georgia QB Gunner Stockton Gets Labeled As “Grandpa” by Teammate Over Latest Video

Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton is taking over the starting role on the Bulldogs this season after the transfer of Carson Beck to Miami. As the starting quarterback for one of the most prestigious programs in the nation, Stockton gets new brand deals and opportunities.

On Friday, a video was posted by the Associated Credit Union Instagram account. In the video, Stockton holds the camera and talks about his new partnership with the brand.

“Hey guys, I’m Gunnner Stockton, quarterback for the University of Georgia,” Gunnner Stockton said. “I’m grateful for my roots, my people, and a partner like ACU that helps folks across Georgia.”

Stockton’s teammate, running back Nate Frazier, reposted the video to his Instagram story, jokingly labeling Stockton as a grandpa because of the way he was holding the phone.

“Why is my QB holding the phone like a grandpa?” Nate Frazier wrote.

Stockton and Frazier have only been teammates for one season, but it appears they already have a good rapport with each other. Stockton has been on the Bulldogs since enrolling as a true freshman in 2022. After redshirting, he served as a backup for the past two seasons.

Frazier joined the team as a true freshman last season and was one of the top running back recruits in the nation. He had an immediate impact, rushing 133 times for 671 yards and eight TDs.

Kirby Smart Praises QB Gunner Stockton As He Prepares for the Starting Role at Georgia

Before training camp started, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart spoke with the media about Gunner Stockton in mid-July. While there are some doubts about whether Stockton will be able to perform at the same level as other top QBs in the SEC, Smart is not worried. While Frazier labeled him as a grandpa, Smart labeled him as a winner.

“He’s got winner written all over him,” Smart said. “He plays baseball growing up his whole life. He’s a winner. He plays football his whole life. He’s a winner. Everything he’s done, he’s been a winner, and in this day and age of college football, that guy is really critical.”

Smart went on to praise Stockton for how he manages the personalities and dynamics in the locker room.

Stockton showed at the end of last season that he is capable of performing in big moments. After Carson Beck got hurt in the SEC championship game against Texas, Stockton stepped in and completed 12 of 16 passing attempts for 71 yards. He also performed well against Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff, in a loss.
