The No. 19 Louisville Cardinals aim to stay unbeaten as they open conference play at home against Georgia Tech, who is 5-0 against ranked ACC teams under head coach Brent Key. Georgia Tech has already played two ACC games, beating then-No. 10 Florida State before falling to Syracuse.
This matchup features a battle in the trenches, with Georgia Tech’s sack-free offensive line facing Louisville’s pass rush, which has nine sacks in two games.

After failing to cover the spread in four of its final five games of 2023, Louisville has reversed that trend by starting 2024 with two straight covers, both as significant favorites, against the FCS’s Austin Peay and CUSA’s Jacksonville State.
The Cardinals went 2-2 ATS as double-digit favorites last season, including a 1-1 ATS mark against conference opponents.

Georgia Tech has covered the number in three of its four games to open the 2024 season. The Yellow Jackets are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 ACC games dating back to the start of last season.
The total at 56.5 is interesting, considering how dominant the Louisville offense has been through its opening two games. Georgia Tech will be the best defense the Cardinals have seen by far, though it’s worth noting Louisville has averaged 55.5 points this season (third in FBS) and scored fewer than 30 points at home just once under Jeff Brohm.
Prediction for Georgia Tech vs. Louisville
This one comes down to the quarterbacks. Haynes King leads the conference in completions (81) and completion percentage (76.4%) while Tyler Shough has the most touchdown passes (six) without an interception in the ACC.
Both have averaged over nine yards per attempt at this point of the season, both on pace to establish career highs in that category.
There is a lot to like about this Louisville team, though they haven’t received a ton of national attention and won’t until they defeat an opponent from a power conference. Here is their chance with a quality, well-coached Georgia Tech team coming to town.
The Cardinals haven’t lost an August/September game under head coach Jeff Brohm after they won their first six contests last season.

Running the ball is an important part of the Cardinals’ offense, and it sets up Shough to utilize play action in the passing game. Louisville has averaged 8.2 yards per carry to rank second in the country behind only Boise State (8.7).
Again, Georgia Tech is different and won’t be an easy task, but the Cardinals are rolling, coming off a bye and are still enjoying home cookin’.
Prediction: Louisville 39, Georgia Tech 21
