Coming off a 6-6 season in 2024, HC Dell McGee and the Georgia State Panthers have a lot of work set out for them this season, to once again prove themselves in front of their fans. With a schedule that pits them against SEC giants and Sun Belt heavyweights, the Panthers’ road this season will be anything but easy.

The Panthers start their season on August 30 with a challenging road trip to face SEC powerhouse Ole Miss. The Rebels, fresh off a 9-3 campaign in 2024, are a challenging opponent, but the Panthers do have the chance to win this face-off if they can keep their defenses strong.

Georgia State begins the season with a big SEC test against a top-25 Ole Miss Squad. The next two weeks, they’ll have a mini-homestand against Memphis and Murray State before another road SEC match.
On September 20, Georgia State travels to Vanderbilt for its second SEC test. The Commodores’ 6-6 record in 2024 makes this a winnable road game if quarterback Christian Veilleux exploits Vanderbilt’s secondary, which surrendered 248 passing yards per game last season.
Sun Belt play begins on October 4 with a home showdown against James Madison. On October 11, the Panthers’ matchup against Appalachian State. The Mountaineers will demand a lot from a Georgia State defense that recorded just 18 sacks last season.
The October 18 road game against Georgia Southern is the Panthers’ biggest priority, especially after last year’s 28-24 heartbreak. They need to secure a win this season to earn back the trust of their fans. After it, a short week leads to a Thursday night home game against South Alabama on October 23.
November brings a tough road stretch, starting with Coastal Carolina on November 8. The Chanticleers, Sun Belt title contenders in 2023.

The November 15 home game against Marshall could decide postseason hopes for the Panthers, as the Thundering Herd matches in terms of player physical form with Georgia State. Road games at Troy (November 22) and Old Dominion (November 29) close the season.
Georgia State’s 2025 schedule is tough, but splitting the SEC games and winning key home matchups against James Madison and Appalachian State could lead to a 7-5 or 8-4 record.
