The Eagles kick off their 2025 season on August 30 with a road trip to Fresno State. The Bulldogs’ 8-4 record in 2024 hints that this could be a challenging matchup for the Eagles. However if they manage to win this, it could be a great confidence booster for Georgia.

A week later, on September 6, Georgia Southern faces USC. The Trojans, a Big Ten powerhouse, averaged 38.2 points per game in 2024, marching through secondaries like the Eagles. However, if they manage to win this, it will significantly improve their team’s nationwide reputation.

Home games against Jacksonville State on September 13 and Maine on September 20 will provide opportunities to regroup, with the FCS Maine matchup being a good benchmark for Georgia to weigh their chances in the Sun Belt matchups.

The conference schedule starts from September 27 with a road matchup against James Madison, a Sun Belt titan whose offense racked up 34.1 points per game in 2024.

The Dukes’ form will challenge Georgia Southern’s front seven, which recorded 21 sacks last season. The October 9 home game against Southern Miss may potentially give the Eagles a chance to build momentum.

The Eagles’ fiercest rivalry is the October 18 home game against Georgia State. Fueled by last year’s thrilling 28-24 victory, the Eagles have a lot of expectations behind them. A win in Statesboro will be a massive confidence boost for the team and its overall image. The October 25 trip to Arkansas State will be a test of Georgia Southern’s defense.

November brings a Thursday night showdown at Appalachian State on November 6, followed by a home game against Coastal Carolina on November 15, a 2023 Sun Belt Championship contender. The Eagles’ final stretch includes a home game against Old Dominion on November 22 and a road trip to Marshall on November 29.

Georgia Southern’s 2025 schedule is a proving ground. Splitting the Fresno State and USC games while dominating at home against Georgia State and Coastal Carolina could push the Eagles to a 9-3 or 10-2 record, positioning them for a Sun Belt title run.
