‘DAWGSSSSS COOKING’ — Georgia Fans Are Barking Proud as Kirby Smart Pulls Off Triple Transfer Portal Heist

Coming off a strong season, Georgia’s head coach, Kirby Smart, lost key players on the edge as Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams, and Chaz Chambliss prepare to start their professional careers ahead of the new campaign. Smart has now addressed these concerns with the transfer portal.

Walker and Williams, in particular, are projected first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, which means the Georgia Bulldogs are losing some serious talent and there’s a hole at outside linebacker.

On Sunday, Smart secured three signings from the portal, a move that has Bulldogs fans excited about what’s to come next. The three players Georgia signed are capable of filling integral roles in the squad next season.

Georgia secured commitments from the transfer portal from Former Miami defensive lineman Josh Horton, Army defensive end Elo Modozie, and Illinois running back Josh McCray. Georgia fans took to social media to express their delight.

Fans are particularly excited about Modozie’s arrival. The 6’3 “, 245-pound specimen was a third-team All-AAC selection as a freshman in 2023. He had 11 tackles, a sack, and recovered a fumble that he returned for a touchdown.

Modozie led the Black Knights last season as a sophomore with 6 ½ sacks and 7 quarterback hurries and was second with 8 tackles for loss while making 34 tackles and blocking two kicks. He’s ranked as the No. 8 EDGE transfer prospect in the 2025 cycle by 247Sports.

McCray rushed for 609 yards and 10 touchdowns on 117 carries last season as a redshirt junior while making 13 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown. He rushed for 1,370 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns at Illinois over four seasons.

Horton is a former four-star prospect from Langston Hughes High in Fariburn, Ga. As a redshirt freshman last season at Miami, he had four tackles in five games with half a tackle for loss while battling through injury.

Georgia lost its top six sack producers from last season: inside linebacker/edge Jalon Walker, outside linebacker Chaz Chambliss, defensive ends Mykel Williams and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, inside linebacker Samel Mondon, and outside linebacker Damon Wilson, who transferred to Missouri.

So, these three signings will go a long way in filling those gaps.
