Chaos ensued at Sunday’s game between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Auburn Tigers. Late in the second quarter, the Tigers were up 10-0 and mere inches away from scoring their second touchdown of the night.
They attempted the famous tush push, but midway through the play, quarterback Jackson Arnold let go of the ball, or rather, it was punched out of his hands by Georgia’s CJ Allen. Immediately afterwards, the ball was grabbed by Kyron James and returned for a touchdown. Or did he?
Auburn TD?
Georgia TD?
Neither?

The play was immediately reviewed, with the officials deciding that it was a fumble recovery by the Bulldogs. In a play with two potential scores, we got none. Fans jumped on X right away to discuss what they had just seen.
“The referees clearly had money on Georgia, in the Georgia-auburn game. Replay clearly shows the ball across before the fumble, that was a ridiculous review,” said one fan.
Other fans thought the exact opposite.
“I hate Georgia but they got robbed. Ball was clearly loose before he crossed the goal line and Georgia returned it for a TD,” complained another person.
“He got the ball punched twice. But if you have on Auburn tiger lenses then you going to automatically be blind to the truth,” said someone else.
Others thought the entire play, in general, was hilarious.
“Crazy, it should have either been an Auburn TD or a GA TD. Yet neither actually happened 🤣. While I think it was a fumble, it could have been an AU TD. It was that close,” joked one fan.
“lmao 2 touchdowns scored on the same play and neither counted🤣,” joked yet another person.
Complaints against the SEC were not uncommon.
“The apology email from the SEC will explain it all. No worries…” wrote one annoyed fan.
