San Francisco 49ers tight end and former Iowa Hawkeyes star George Kittle hit back at rival program, Nebraska’s alum Will Compton, for trying to talk smack before his Monday Night Football game against the Carolina Panthers. This comes just when we enter the Big Ten rivalry week, as both Nebraska and Iowa are scheduled to go against each other this week.
After the 49ers won the game 20-9, Kittle aired his frustration against Compton during his interview with ESPN SportsCenter’s Scott Van Pelt. The tight end revealed he received a voice message from Compton about the Nebraska-Iowa rivalry before the game and used the interview to give it back to the former Nebraska linebacker.
“Ay, Will Compton. I didn’t really appreciate your voice memo on the day of my Monday Night Football game talking c**p to me about Nebraska-Iowa,” Kittle said. “It didn’t settle with me. You know what? I didn’t like it. That’s the type of thing Nebraska does. They take cheap shots.
“Hey, I’m preparing for a Monday Night Football game on national television and you’re coming to me about Nebraska-Iowa? That means you’re scared,” Kittle added. “You’re terrified. You lost by 30 at Penn State? They just fired their coach and you lost by 30? Are you kidding me? I was gonna come in there and run the ball down your throat and there’s nothing you can do about it. Sit on the bus that doesn’t go anywhere and shut your mouth, Will Compton. Shut up.”

Kittle’s remarks came as Nebraska and Iowa prepare for the final rivalry game of the season against each other.

Will Compton Responds To George Kittle’s “Cheap Shots” Remark
Just hours after George Kittle’s comments hit the internet, Will Compton chose to respond to the uncharacteristic on-air remark by the 49ers tight end. He took to X and once again took a jibe at Iowa while taking it out on Kittle.
“Not surprised by Kittle taking shots at me & the Huskers on national television while I’m trying to keep my head above water,” Compton wrote. “Only Iowa guys I’d literally never spew nonsense like that on a platform like ESPN. Disgusting.”
The college football fever has reached the NFL and both Kittle and Compton are examples of how emotional fans will be when the game kicks off this Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
