LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier had an astonishing start to the first season as LSU’s starting quarterback, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 29 touchdowns. Even so, the Tigers lacked offensive firepower in 2024. The team faced problems in crucial areas, consisting of red zone scoring, a weak running game, and unpredictable wide receiver play.
These problems led to the Tigers losing three straight matches in SEC play and an 8-4 overall record. This offseason, LSU is targeting improvements by bringing in skilled players with the help of the transfer portal, especially at wide receiver, to provide essential help to the returning players.

LSU Strengthens Wide Receiver Group Through Transfer Portal
LSU is trying its best to improve its offensive arsenal as soon as possible by bringing in skilled players renowned for their wide receiver abilities from the transfer portal.
The list of players onboarding includes Barion Brown (Kentucky), Nic Anderson (Oklahoma), and Destyn Hill (Florida State). With the return of Chris Hilton, LSU is now confident enough to play on the field.

“I’m very excited,” Nussmeier said before LSU’s December Texas Bowl victory. “I saw there was a graphic going around about the guys and their speed, and that’s pretty unbelievable. We have a lot of guys who can make plays, and some of them are still here.
“We have guys that are here, and we’re going to bring guys in that will make some plays, and it’s going to be a very competitive room and a very talented room, so I’m excited. We’ve got so many good players in that room.”
Some of the sport’s most well-rounded receivers are also joining the team, including Hilton, Aaron Anderson, Kyle Parker, and even Zavion Thomas, who is also returning this time.

LSU was always in search of a physical receiver, and it completed that search by adding 6’4″ Nic Anderson to the team.
“That was certainly a position where we wanted someone who matched that profile,” Kelly said of Anderson. “We had hit all the others that have the speed and athleticism we needed, so we were looking for somebody specific, just like that profile that he possesses.”
