Garrett Nussmeier Shines at LSU Pro Day

The New Orleans Saints X account showed the following clip of Nussmeier, mentioning that he is the son of Doug, the team’s current offensive coordinator. Doug was a QB in the NFL for the Saints and the Indianapolis Colts and also played for the CFL’s B.C. Lions.

Garrett Nussmeier is set to enter his second season in 2025 as the starting QB for the Tigers, with considerable hype as a front-runner for the Heisman Trophy.

In a recent Sports Illustrated article, Tigers OC Joe Sloan said, “I’ve really seen his leadership. I think his confidence and who he is as a person, just his leadership carry over. He was always a leader. But I think he’s done an excellent job of that, just really being organic, being real, being genuine. The guys are gravitating to it. It’s been good to see.”

QB Spotlight’s Steven Hamner broke down Nussmeier’s game against Ole Miss last season and highlighted his second-half touchdown on 4th-and-5, saying he “delivered an NFL-type throw for a touchdown to [Aaron] Anderson.”

In another video, Hamner highlighted some of Nussmeier’s strengths, mentioning his ability to move in the pocket and true gunslinger mentality.

NFL Draft analyst Justin Gammel initially shared a tweet highlighting LSU OT Will Campbell’s receiving ability but noted that with Nussmeier, the “Ball always out quick, never gets too deep in the pocket so his OT’s aren’t left out to dry, and when he feels pressure, he escapes and can throw on the run.”
