FSU QB Thomas Castellanos Makes Feelings Very Clear On Fallout With Bill Belichick’s Former Assistant

The Florida State Seminoles brought in quarterback Thomas Castellanos via the transfer portal this offseason to help turn things around next season. He spent the past two seasons at Boston College but was limited by various injury issues this past year. This had a negative impact on his statline as he finished the year with 99 completed passes for 1,366 yards and 18 TDs.

Despite his injury-riddled year, Florida State gave him an opportunity after he entered the transfer portal. Castellanos has expressed confidence in his new season. However, he also spoke earlier this offseason about “butting heads” with head coach Bill O’Brien at Boston College. O’Brien is also a former assistant coach for Bill Belichick in the NFL.

At the ACC media days on Wednesday, Castellanos was asked about his previous comments about O’Brien.

“You know I’m very grateful for Boston College and all the people there that supported me,” Castellanos said. “I had a great time there but we past that. I’m focused on this season, focused on everything going forward with my new teammates and my new team.”

Thomas Castellanos Spoke Earlier About Boston College Being the Wrong School for Him

The question about Thomas Castellanos’ comments about his former head coach Bill O’Brien came from an interview with On3 insider Pete Nakos in June.

In the interview, Castellanos spoke about how he butted heads with O’Brien and how Boston College was not the school for him.

“BC wasn’t the school for me. I wasn’t able to be myself, and I had to try to make myself be something I wasn’t. I just didn’t like it. Bill O’Brien and I butted heads early in the season.” Castellanos said. “I got banged up a few games. We had a meeting, and it kind of blew up in my face. I did so much for that program, and I did everything that I could, and I just wasn’t repaid the right way.”

Thomas Castellanos will now have the opportunity to prove that he can compete with some of the best teams in the nation as a member of the Florida State Seminoles. He will have a tough first challenge as the Seminoles are scheduled to play the Alabama Crimson Tide in their season opener.
