    FSU Lands Safety Jarvis Boatwright Jr. From USC in Portal Win

    Florida State has been searching for a safety to add to the room’s depth for the better part of the spring transfer window. They have also had a busy week adding players through the transfer portal, grabbing Vanderbilt offensive lineman Josh Raymond and Rutgers offensive lineman Ja’Elyne Matthews. They have now secured the commitment of a new safety.

    Florida has secured the services of Jarvis Boatwright. Boatwright was heavily recruited by Florida State out of high school prior to his commitment to USC. He has now transferred out of USC to play for the Seminoles.

    Florida State’s Surprise Portal Move: What USC Transfer Jarvis Boatwright Jr. Brings to the Noles’ Secondary

    Jarvis Boatwright Jr. is a 6’1”, 190-pound safety who played for Clearwater High School. Boatwright initially chose Southern Cal over fellow finalist Florida State, despite being a regular visitor to Tallahassee prior to his decision.

    Boatwright has four years of eligibility remaining after redshirting last season. He totaled 102 tackles, including 3 for loss, during his senior year at Clearwater High School. He also had one interception, six pass breakups, and a fumble recovery. He also ran for 484 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 10.1 yards per carry for Clearwater High School.

    He was named to the 2023 FACA All-District First Team and was a 2023 FACA All-Star selection. He tallied 25 tackles, including 1 for loss, and collected one interception as a junior in 2022. He also rushed for 187 yards on 10 carries with three touchdowns and had one kickoff return for 50 yards.

    He was considered the No. 30-ranked safety in the 2024 class and the No. 44-ranked prospect in Florida.

    With USC, Boatwright was unable to play at all as a redshirt freshman. Now, he’ll get a chance to compete for playing time under safeties coach Evan Cooper. Boatwright has a great size and hopefully, with his skill set, plus having Cooper to guide him, Boatwright can maximize his talent and realize his full potential.
