Looking to make some money on Marshall? Ready to back the Roadrunners? If you take advantage of the Frisco Bowl odds, consider some of the following factors before you part with your hard-earned cash.

Marshall comes into the Frisco Bowl with a 2-1 head-to-head advantage over UTSA, but it’s the Roadrunners that are coming off a better 2023 college football campaign. With a raft of opt-outs, transfer portal entries, and injuries to contend with, the Thundering Herd is on the back foot and that’s reflected in UTSA being a substantial favorite, understandably and rightfully.

It feels like a UTSA is a lock for the outright win here, so are there some other Frisco Bowl odds worth investigating to get a better return on your investment?

Well, Marshall has covered the spread just four times this season, with the Roadrunners covering the last two times they were a double-digit spread favorite, so taking UTSA at -12.5 could be a solid gamble.

Although the two teams have combined to go over the total points line just 10 times in a combined 24 games this season, UTSA has the offense and enough pieces missing on defense — like sack leader Trey Moore — to ensure there are points to be had in this game. It is bowl season after all.

Our Frisco Bowl prediction has UTSA to win, cover, and over the 51.5 points line.

There’s just one college football game on Tuesday to compile your DFS team. If you’re new to DFS, Fanduel’s one-game contests allow you to select four Flex positions from the quarterback, running backs, wide receivers, and tight end positions in one-game slates. One-game slates give you an MVP that scores 1.5x the points of a normal player.

Your Frisco Bowl picks are going to have a very one-sided feel to them, with UTSA being a clear favorite and having the lion’s share of the top-tier fantasy assets. Obviously, values will play a part in how you shape your DFS lineup, but running back Rasheen Ali is really the only Thundering Herd player you can trust to put up significant fantasy points on Tuesday.

In fact, Ali is the highest-scoring fantasy player involved in the Frisco Bowl. As the heart of the Marshall offense, he’s tallied 215.6 points as the result of 1,256 total yards and 15 total touchdowns in his 2023 campaign. The Herd running back has marginally more points than UTSA quarterback Frank Harris who is a must-start due to his dual-threat capability.

One of those two should be your MVP. From there, take your pick of UTSA players to round out your team. Kevorian Barnes has the edge at RB in yards and carries, but Robert Henry ties wide receiver Joshua Cephus for the team lead with nine touchdowns. Although Tykee Ogle-Kellogg is next up with seven scores, Devin McCuin has had more targets of late.

Prediction for the Frisco Bowl

Okay, so we’ve furnished you with the Frisco Bowl odds and some DFS picks. Now, it’s time to close this thing out with our prediction. Can Marshall overcome the odds to record a bowl win in the second successive season? Or will UTSA prove too strong as they look to bounce back from their regular-season-ending defeat to Tulane that deprived them of a shot at the AAC title?

Marshall came into the season with a sense of expectation hanging over them, and when they went out to a 4-0 start, including a win over Virginia Tech, that preseason excitement appeared to be well-earned. However, Charles Huff’s team has won just two games since, finishing the year down the bottom of the Sun Belt with a 3-5 conference record.

They’ve got impressive playmakers on both sides of the ball, with running back Ali being one of the best ball carriers in the nation and the defensive containing impactful disruptors like Owen Porter, Elijah Alston, and Micah Abraham. However, they’ve given up 28.2 points per game this season, including six games giving up 30 points or more.

Meanwhile, they’ve only averaged 23.2 points per game on offense. That won’t cut the mustard against a UTSA defense that might be lacking sack leader Moore but flies to the ball from front to back. It also won’t stand up in a shootout with the Harris-led UTSA offense, with the veteran QB looking to end his Roadrunners career as he’s spent most of it — winning.

Prediction: UTSA 34, Marshall 21
