Kristopher Ross, a former four-star EDGE, has committed to Sacramento State for the 2025 season, per On3’s Pete Nakos. Ross began his career at Texas, logging one appearance as a freshman and playing in the Longhorns’ first three games in 2023.
He transferred to Nevada for the 2024 season before making his latest move. Sacramento State will be Ross’s third stop in as many years. He now joins a Hornets squad in transition under new head coach Brennan Marion. The signing continues a period of major roster reshaping for the Big Sky program.

Ross, once a prized four-star prospect from powerhouse Houston (TX) North Shore, was rated No. 178 overall in the 2022 class by the On3 Industry Rankings. He originally signed with Texas as a key recruiting win for Steve Sarkisian. His time in Austin, however, was brief.
Ross appeared in one game during his freshman campaign and recorded two tackles in the 2023 season opener against Louisiana-Monroe. He saw action in the first three contests of that season before parting ways with the Longhorns in October.
He then transferred to Nevada for the 2024 season, where he made an immediate impact. Ross posted 29 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two pass breakups across 13 games, anchoring the Wolf Pack’s defensive front. Despite his production, Nevada struggled, finishing 3-10 overall and winless in Mountain West play.
Ross now joins a Sacramento State program undergoing a dramatic transformation under Marion, who took the reins after serving as offensive coordinator at UNLV.
The Hornets currently lead the nation with 50 transfer portal additions, including notable names like former Texas running back Savion Red, ex-Longhorn receiver Agiye Hall, and former Georgia and Arizona State quarterback Jaden Rashada.

Rashada, a top-75 national recruit in the 2023 cycle, started two games at Arizona State before injury cut his freshman season short. He finished the year completing 44-of-82 passes for 485 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. He brings three years of eligibility to Sacramento.
Ross’s arrival signals Sacramento State’s intent to compete at a higher level. With his FBS experience and North Shore pedigree, he adds depth and leadership to a defense in transition.
