Police reported that Fleming, 24, was operating a 2024 Yamaha ATV when a deer suddenly entered the roadway, leading to a collision. The crash resulted in the death of the passenger, 23-year-old Alyssa D. Boyd, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Boyd, identified as Fleming’s girlfriend by Lions247, and Fleming were both not wearing any safety gear at the time of the accident.
Fleming was taken to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital with what authorities described as “suspected serious injury.” He has since been released. A deceased deer matching the damage observed on the ATV was found nearby, consistent with the report’s account of the crash. The incident remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police in Towanda.
Having spent four years with Ohio State, Fleming transferred to Penn State for the 2024 season. At Penn State, he caught 14 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown. His college days were often interrupted by injuries, but his prolific appearance record of 54 games across both programs tells a different story. He finished his career with 1,139 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
The Catawissa native from Pennsylvania came to fame in Southern Columbia High School, where he was the best-ranked wide receiver nationwide in the 2020 recruiting class. He decided to join Ohio State as the No. 4 recruit overall and was provided with over 30 scholarship offers before finally signing in December 2019.
Fleming went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft but agreed to a UDFA contract with the Packers. However, the deal was rescinded after he failed a physical due to hip and back issues.
New York Giants rookie Abdul Carter shared support for Fleming on X, saying, “stay strong fam.”
