Toledo has landed a major defensive asset for the 2025 season with the addition of former Ole Miss EDGE Chamberlain Campbell. The former three-star recruit was rated among the top 100 edge defenders nationally as a high schooler.
Campbell, who announced his transfer via the portal, brings production that could elevate the Rockets’ defense. While a standout in high school, Campbell saw limited action with the Rebels. His arrival adds high-end potential to a Toledo program aiming to rise quietly but confidently in the MAC next season.

Transfer EDGE Chamberlain Campbell Commits To Toledo As Rockets Bolster Defense
Toledo has added a notable name to its 2025 roster with the transfer of edge rusher Chamberlain Campbell from Ole Miss. A former three-star recruit from Lakewood High School in Saint Petersburg, Florida, Campbell was ranked No. 615 nationally in the 2023 recruiting cycle by the On3 Industry Ranking.
Campbell’s time at Ole Miss was quiet. He redshirted his freshman year, logging appearances in only two games during the 2023 season. He recorded one quarterback hurry in 12 snaps against ULM and made his college debut earlier that season versus Mercer.
Following spring drills in 2025, he entered the transfer portal without any official stats accumulated during his stint in Oxford.
The Rockets, coming off an 8-5 campaign under head coach Jason Candle — including a six-overtime victory over Pittsburgh in the GameAbove Sports Bowl — are aiming to build on that momentum.
Campbell’s arrival, along with earlier transfer addition Deamonte “Chip” Trayanum from Kentucky, highlights Toledo’s intent to reload rather than rebuild. Campbell brings raw athleticism and high-upside potential to a defense that values speed and flexibility along the edge.

Though unproven at the college level, he now finds himself in a system that could better showcase his traits. Toledo’s track record of developing overlooked talent offers Campbell a chance to finally break through and make an impact.
While it’s uncertain how quickly he’ll contribute, the move is a calculated risk for both parties. If Campbell fulfills his potential, he could become a cornerstone piece in a Rockets defense looking to contend in the MAC once again.
