David Justice Praises Deion Sanders’ Dual-Sport Excellence: ‘Never a Distraction’
When it comes to playing two sports at the top level and excelling in both, no name stands out like “Prime Time” Deion Sanders. The NFL legend didn’t simply dabble in multiple sports. He mastered them in ways even Bo Jackson couldn’t, like playing for the Braves and Atlanta Falcons on the same day.
On the “All Facts No Brakes” podcast with Keyshawn Johnson, Sanders’ former Braves teammate discussed that historic era. Justice bluntly dismissed the notion that Sanders’ dual-sport endeavors caused a distraction within the club.
“We knew he was going to be part-time. So, whenever Deion could make it to the team, we loved having him, and when he couldn’t, we knew he was away playing football. This was never an issue for us,” Justice stated. “The media tried to make it appear as if he was a distraction, but that was never the case.”
Justice praised Sanders’ exceptional athleticism and ability to excel at the top levels of football and baseball.
“To be able to play two sports at the highest level is incredible,” Justice marveled.
Sanders’ ability to play at an elite level in both football and baseball appears more superhuman by the day. With such incredible talent, he has become a household name across the country.
Sanders was an athletic peculiarity that may never be recreated, despite the constant mythologizing of “the next Bo Jackson” with each new two-sport phenom. Deion outdid Bo in that he remained “Prime Time.”
Justice’s comments provide a better picture of Sanders’ impact on his teammates and highlight the respect he commanded within the locker room.
