Former Arizona State QB Thinks Sam Leavitt Will Have ‘An Even Better Year’ in 2025

Sam Leavitt's 2024 campaign has made way for him to be even better in 2025, according to Arizona State Sun Devils legend Jake Plummer.

The Arizona State Sun Devils had an exceptional 2024 season as they made a magical run all the way to the College Football Playoff. Part of the reason they were able to do that was because of strong play from quarterback Sam Leavitt.

Sam Leavitt Earns High Praise From Jake Plummer

Leavitt played smartly under center and from the pocket this past season. He completed nearly 62% of his passes for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns, along with just six interceptions. The Michigan State transfer also rushed for 443 yards and five touchdowns.

His great play recently earned praise from former Sun Devils quarterback Jake Plummer, who eventually went on to play a decade in the NFL.

“I didn’t have any plan, I just went out and played with my heart and soul. And I saw that from him [last] year,” Plummer said. “I have a feeling he’s going to work and getting ready to have an even better year.”

“…I just went out and played with my heart and SOUL. And I saw that from him (last year). I have a feeling he’s going to work and getting ready to have an even better year.”

The praise from the former All-American and Pro Bowl signal-caller should give Leavitt some extra juice heading into next season. After all, the Sun Devils have some unfinished business.

High Hopes for the Sun Devils

Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham, at just 34 years of age, was able to guide this underrated team to a Big 12 title and a near appearance in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.

Next season, the expectations should be fairly high after the product that the team put out on tape this year.

In a semi-new conference, the team from Tempe should be considered one of the favorites to win the conference if not the top dog. However, their loss of All-American running back Cam Skattebo could hurt a little bit.

The former Sacramento State star rushed for a whopping 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns on 293 total attempts. He also caught 45 passes for 605 yards and three scores.
