Florida EDGE Tyreak Sapp Projects As Lions’ Sneaky First-Round Steal in 2026 NFL Mock Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft happened just a month ago, but that didn’t stop College Sports Network’s Max Dorsey from diving into a way-too-early 2026 NFL mock draft.

With the draft order set by the PFSN 2026 Mock Draft Simulator, which is live and free to use, the Cleveland Browns were awarded the number one overall pick, taking Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik. But what really caught our eyes lay further down the draft board.

Detroit Lions Get an Absolute Steal With Florida’s Tyreak Sapp

At No. 29 overall, Dorsey projects Florida EDGE Tyreak Sapp to the Detroit Lions, making him the sixth EDGE off the board.

With Clemson’s T.J. Parker expected to be the first EDGE off the board, Dorsey slots him at No. 3 to the New Orleans Saints. Next comes Miami’s Rueben Bain Jr. to the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 9, and Alabama’s LT Overton and Auburn’s Keldric Faulk back-to-back to the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears, at No. 15 and 16, respectively.

The Denver Broncos take Penn State’s Dani Dennis-Sutton at number 20, before the Lions finally pull the trigger on Sapp.

“Tyreak Sapp had a breakout season in 2024 after being semi-quiet for his first three seasons with the Gators. Sapp originally committed to Florida as a defensive tackle but moved to EDGE last year and balled out,” Dorsey said.

“Sapp was great in the run game last season with 13 TFLs, and produced as a pass rusher as well with 7.5 sacks. If he can have another year with that kind of production off the edge in 2025, he should be a Day 1 selection.”

Sapp broke out in his 2024 redshirt junior season at Florida, racking up 46 tackles (20 solo), seven sacks, and two forced fumbles in nine starts. Sapp led the Gators in tackles for loss, racking up 13 for 48 yards.

As a four-star recruit out of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sapp committed to the Gators, taking a redshirt year in his first season. Sapp notched 20 tackles (eight solo) in 13 appearances in 2022 and 24 tackles (12 solo), one pass defense, two sacks, and two forced fumbles in 2023 for the Gators.

If Sapp’s sack production can continue to increase, NFL teams will take notice. Good edge rushers are few and far between, and if Sapp can keep playing at a high level, expect him to shoot even higher up draft boards.
