Florida State Depth Chart Breakdown: Key Starters and Predictions for Alabama Showdown

The Florida State Seminoles are looking to redeem themselves in 2025, following an extremely poor season last year. They finished with a terrible 2-10 overall record and a 1-7 conference one. Even more disappointing when one considers they finished 2023 as an undefeated Power Five champion.

In 2025, they start their season with a complicated non-ACC matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide. While the Tide is not as fearful of an opponent as when Nick Saban was in charge of the program, Kalen DeBoer’s team is still one to be reckoned with.

Here’s the updated Florida State roster as they enter their new season.

Florida State vs. Alabama: Key Players to Watch

    Squirrel White – WR

Florida State brought in Squirrel White from Tennessee to revitalize its receiver corps ahead of the 2025 season. He brings in a wealth of SEC experience, 38 games at Tennessee, where he caught 131 passes for 1665 yards and 6 touchdowns. Last year, he had 381 receiving yards, with touchdowns on 34 receptions.

    Thomas Castellanos – QB

Another player who was brought in to revamp the school’s offense is Thomas Castellanos. Castellanos is coming in from two seasons as a starter at Boston College. To be fair, Castellanos’ time with the Eagles was no roaring success. Last year, he led them to a 4-4 record and only managed 1366 passing yards, with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions. More worrisome it’s the fact that this seems to have been an improvement over 2023. While that year they had a winning 7-6 record, with 2248 passing yards, he had almost as many interceptions as he had touchdowns. 15 scores for 14 interceptions. However, the Seminoles’ future is in his hands.

Predictions for Florida State vs. Alabama

The Crimson Tide is the clear favorite here, with ESPN Bet having them with a 13.5-point lead in the spread. The network’s predictor is not expecting anything too different, as it gives the SEC program a 90.6% chance of winning the encounter.
