The Florida Gators made a surprising move bringing in former four-star QB Harrison Bailey to add to their talented quarterback room.
The Gators are coming off an impressive eight-win season led by promising freshman QB DJ Lagway. The future of Florida football looks bright, but does the addition of the 23-year-old Bailey change anything?
What Does the Florida QB Room Look Like Ahead of the 2025 College Football Season?
DJ Lagway (Sophomore)
Lagway was one of the highest-rated QB recruits in the history of the Gators program. The 240-pound QB started as a true freshman after an injury to Graham Mertz early in the season. Lagway was thrown into a tough spot as Florida had one of the toughest schedules in the country, but he did not disappoint.
As a 19-year-old, he threw for just under 2,000 yards and broke the FBS record for most passing yards in a game by a true freshman with 456 in his first career start. Lagway capped off an impressive debut season with a bowl win and has given hope and excitement to the program as they pursue a path to becoming a powerhouse again.
Harrison Bailey (Redshirt Senior)
Bailey was a top-100 recruit in 2020 and was supposed to be the future of the Tennessee Volunteers. Since then Bailey has had an odd career and was most recently granted minimal opportunities at UNLV and Louisville. He decided to use his sixth and final year of eligibility to join the Gators in 2025.

Bailey impressed head coach Billy Napier on his visit and was quickly brought in after Deshawn Purdie’s departure in the transfer portal. Bailey now slots in as the top backup to Lagway and will provide competition to a talented QB room. Bailey has 10 TDs to only three INTs in his career and can step in if needed while providing stability to Florida’s QB room.
Clay Millen (Redshirt Senior)
Clay Millen joined the Gators in 2024 after losing his starting spot at Colorado State. Millen was originally at Nevada but transferred to Colorado State as a redshirt freshman. In 2022 he started 10 games and earned a CFN Freshman All American spot.
Millen is an impressive QB known for his accuracy. He completed 72% of his passes in 2022. The former three-star recruit did not see any action for Florida in 2024 but will have the opportunity to compete for the backup role in 2025. Millen has had time to learn the offense firsthand and become a factor for the Gators in 2025.
Aidan Warner (Redshirt Sophomore)
Aidan Warner joined Florida in 2024 as a preferred walk-on after a season at Yale. He saw some action in 2024, including a start against fifth-ranked Texas. Warner struggled in his lone start, throwing three interceptions, but it was valuable for him to see the field. Warner remains in a similar spot on the depth chart as last season but might have the upper hand on some of his competition as he was able to play real snaps in 2024.
Warner is a talented player and provides more dual-threat ability than most backups. He will be in the mix for the top backup spot and the thick of competition all offseason.
Tramell Jones Jr. (Freshman)
Tramell Jones Jr. is the youngest of the group and lacks experience due to an injury late in his high school career. He is a three-star prospect and will most likely redshirt the 2025 season. Jones is a pocket passer who projects to be a starter one day. He is incredibly talented but will likely have to wait his turn with Florida’s additions made to the QB room the past few seasons.
Florida’s QB room looks deep and experienced, but Lagway remains the starter and will look to lead the Gators back to the promised land.
