Earlier this week, Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway announced his partnership with the University of Florida Health (UF Health) to establish a new foundation in his name. Let’s take a deeper look into this philanthropic NIL deal.

What Did DJ Lagway Say About His New Foundation?
According to the “NIL Newsstand” article discussing the topic, Florida’s starting quarterback, DJ Lagway, recently announced the launch of the DJ Lagway Foundation. In partnership with UF Health, the new foundation aims to aid local youth through UF Health community initiatives.
Lagway made clear that he was grateful for his current platform and detailed how he wanted to use this voice to help others in the community.
“Football has given me so much, and NIL has opened doors I could never have imagined,” Lagway explained. “Now, I want to use those opportunities to pay it forward. Partnering with UF Health allows me to give back in a way that directly makes a positive impact on the community.”

Lagway’s foundation is set to provide positive services for the community through various mediums, including food drives, youth football camps, and mentorships.
DJ Lagway’s 2025 Outlook
As a freshman last season, Lagway emerged as the program’s starting quarterback due to his strong play and injuries to fellow quarterback Graham Mertz.
Lagway finished the campaign with 1,915 passing yards, 12 touchdown passes, and nine interceptions. He also added 101 rushing yards on the ground.
The Gators ended the season with a record of 8-5, going 4-4 against fellow SEC opponents. While the year was not terrible by any means, the program did struggle at times.
In 2024, the Gators averaged 28.8 points per game, which ranked them No. 61 in the nation this past year. Meanwhile, the defensive unit was slightly better, giving up an average of 23.1 points per game, which was tied for No. 42 in the country.
FURTHER FLORIDA FINDINGS: DJ Lagway’s Legend Continues To Grow
While it remains to be seen how Lagway will perform with an entire season as QB1, the start of his new foundation demonstrates that he is using his platform for good in the Gainesville community.
